Drawing from gestures of Verena Melgarejo Weinandt’s work Weaving Connections, three performers connect the two waters that flow around Ocean Space through a large woven textile braid. Braids are an important element in the artist’s trajectory, exploring our interdependencies and the processes of identity formation in constant transition. As the braid is carried from one water to another, a physical and spiritual engagement explores our human connection to water and the necessity to manifest that connection into action. The performance expands through the audience’s participation in moving the braid, connecting to the canals water around campo San Lorenzo.
